'Motel Pool Vacancy' 2022
Karen Brown Gallery
Reaching across the cosmic and mundane
An original etching limited to an edition of sixty
In the almost sold out ‘Dancing Children’ Blackman revels in this wonder
Charles Blackman 'Paradise Garden' reproduction-print 'Motel Pool Vacancy' 2022Paradise Garden is a spellbinding image. In it two unclothed figures, perhaps Adam and Eve, recline in a garden. Plants coil around them, the sky stewing with distant rapture. Eve inhales a flowers perfume, Adam lies prone is he asleep or unconscious? Like a thorned flower or poisoned fruit, Paradise Gardens deals in beauty and threat. It is sumptuous and strange, an earthly delight at the rainbows end. Paradise Gardens has never been on the market.
