A Silver and Gold Ring With Ancient Widows Mite Biblical Coin, ca. 103 - 76 BCE Amulets - Protection dated 1993A very fine bronze Widows Mite (prutah) of the Judean King and High Priest Alexander Jannaeus, beautifully mounted in a modern silver and gold ring. The coin was minted during the Hasmonean period, a brief era of Jewish independence between the Old and New Testaments. It remained in circulation into the time of Christ, and is famously referenced in the Gospel story of the widows offering. The obverse shows a star of eight pellets within a diadem,
