Honestly, I think that if Watchers of the Dead had better stats or if it was simply a Tormod's Crypt on a grizzly bear body it would probably be playable

Basically, the less established your board state the less likely you are to have a great target for your auras, and the more it will hurt if your opponent removes that target with an aura on the stack

Alternatively, you can just go for huge value plays with big beaters like Terastodon or Archon of Cruelty
